EVER AFTER WEDDING SHOW : GLENCAIRN GOLF CLUB, MILTON, ONTARIO

This past weekend was a good one.  It had its ups, its downs, but you know, nothing extremely down just disappointing.  On Friday I got the idea of revamping the closet in my office.  Picture a small regular hole in the wall type closet, one shelf at the top for storage and the traditional bar across for hanging clothes, nothing special.  But it was a mess.  Boxes piled up on the floor, my camera bags stacked on top of each other, a document drawer in disarray, empty wire hangars, a very unappealing site to say the least.  My idea was to get 4 shelves from Ikea (some of the same free floating types that I have on another wall in my office) that would fit perfectly in dimension, get some fancy boxes to keep everything hidden, neat, tidy, stylish.  So I tore out the top shelf, removed the hanging bar, and put everything that was being stored in the closet on the floor all around my office.  Well, it’s all still on the floor and my office is a mess because … after going to Ikea in Burlington, the shelves that I want were out of stock!  And after visiting the website I found out that no one else has them in stock either!  There was also a notice on the site that these particular shelves are not available for order online or over the phone, which to me means that I’ll never get them.  Ack!  They would have been cheap too.  So disappointing.  So now I’m on the lookout for any other nice shelves that will fit into that darn closet, and it seems to be daunting task.  I came across a similar style of shelf but the price was 3 times what I could have gotten them for at Ikea.  Argh, I tell ya, argh.

The GOOD part of the weekend was the Ever After Wedding Show that took place on Sunday at the Glencairn Golf Club in Milton!  Patti and I were invited out by Michelle at I Do… Weddings in Milton, and I took some great shots for her.  I Do… (such a great name by the way) specialize in all the decor details of making your wedding, corporate event, family events, Christmas parties and so much more a beautiful and memorable one.  And they go beyond that too!  The crew there make stunning floral arrangements for any occasion.

In between taking photos and before the show was in full gear, we went around to some of the vendors to meet some people and do a little networking, and I’m glad we did.  Everyone we met were so nice and so enthusiastic about what they do to make any occasion extra special.

Here’s the crew from I Do… They were so nice to us!

The light coming through the window was incredible, it made the colours in the flower arrangements pop!  POP!

Props to my model Patti!  She’s great to work with ;)

All the decor for the bridal fashion show was set up by I Do…  It turned out awesome!

Here comes the bride, or at least the showcase of stellar gowns!

Some of the floral arrangements were used during the show and it made it feel like you were actually seeing brides coming down the aisle.  I felt like dancing too, but alas, no dance floor!

Vendor time!!!  Meet Mike Van Slingerland of Kettle Creek Weddings, an incredible guy and officiant extraordinaire!  Mike and his crew do everything to make a couple’s day be very much their own, and he has some great stories to back it up.  And to top it off, he’s taught all of his officiants to get out of the way of the photographer!  That’s almost unheard of!  I was impressed.

You might recognize this smiling face from a previous blog post.  When I saw her booth, I said to Patti “I know who that is!”.  Amber Richmond is fun to talk with socially and creatively.  Amber, don’t hesitate to call me whenever you need help rearranging your display, seriously.

I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve had cake for breakfast before.  But for some reason I wanted to devour these masterpieces!  Meagan Rigby-Leroux of Wedding Cakes By Design had to have one of the more delicious booths of the show.

So funny.

This young lady definitely had Patti’s attention.  Custom jewellery?  Yup, no problem.  Sarah at Somerstone is the one to talk to.  Such a sweet and passionate person.  If she could, I bet Patti would have bought the whole table from her!

Now THIS was the highlight of my day.  I couldn’t stop talking about these crates.  Marc Slater of King’s Crate had me hooked on these incredible masterpieces, yes masterpieces I say, geared solely towards guys.  ”It’s A Guy Thing”, perfect slogan.  All hand assembled and branded!  No frills, no cellophane, no bows.  I can’t wait to get one, hint hint!, nudge nudge!

Before we headed out, Michelle hand this to Patti.  She’s the best!  Thank you for making Patti smile!  So, on our way out, I got a little creative with the gift.

And here’s my fave snap of the day.

Everyone should check out this show next year!

February 10, 2010 - 1:23 pm Patti McDougall - Marc.... he is still talking about your crates. You have created a monster!
